![]() I also noticed despite lots of good paying jobs, I had lots of poor citizens living in bunkhouses and such. I was spending so much money on budgets for my residential buildings. I soon figured out a person could look at what was causing there expenses in the economy tab in your almanac, and I saw the #1 issue very quickly. But somehow my profit was not overtaking expenses. I was watching the economy very well getting good export and import prices. I also had lots of gold, and nickel mines. I had a Rum distillery, Cigar factory, Steel Mill, and lots of Tobacco and Sugar plantations. I had lots of options for my industrial economy. I found myself in the same issue as you guys. ![]() I had played Tropico 5 in the past, and I am currently playing Tropico 6. Pirate raiding can net you years worth of resources in a single haul, for example, and the "treasure hunt" option pays off well. Use your spies! In each era you have a unique spy-type building that gives you operatives (pirates, commandos, spies, and hackers, by era) Always steal a world wonder, they add big bonuses. In the colonial age, do not be afraid to go broke, the crown will usually bail you out with foreign aid. Use the political tools available, like trade routes, to raise opinions until you can beg superpowers for cash. Do not count on farmers and lumberjacks driving to work, put housing (always bunk houses for poorer jobs, there is literally no other option until the modern age!) close to jobs. Poor citizens will not use cars, at all, unless you use an edict. For example, you can start using the newspaper right from the colonial age. Don't be too concerned about making everyone happy right off the bat, you have a lot more tools for swinging opinion. There are more tools for staying in power now. Trade routes seem to be even more important than in previous games, Use them. Focus on getting those factories set up early, much earlier than you would start making factories in earlier games. Industry is much expanded now, with many factory jobs not requiring an education. Farmers will never move into an apartment, you can't change the rent. That no longer works, you MUST use appropriate housing for the wage class now. In all previous games since Tropico 1, spamming apartments was a valid strategy to raise housing happiness. There have been some big changes to housing.
